震中附近地区测震台站和其他定点前兆观测台站分布图参见前面的图1和图12。地震发生在观测台网的东部,西部台站比较稀少。

在震中200
km范围内共有地震台站24个,其中测震台18个;其他前兆台17个。在0~100
km、101~200km范围内分别有地震台站8、16个,其中测震台6、12个、前兆台8、9个。测震学以外定点前兆观测项目有水氡、水位、地电、地磁、地倾斜、短水准、短基线等8个。此外,滇西实验场的流动重力和流动地磁测网通过震区。但震前流动观测项目未出现异常。
此次地震前出现测震学、定点前兆、宏观等11个异常项目,17条前兆异常,其中测震学异常7条��,其他前兆观测项目异常10条。测震学异常有:地震空区、腾冲台波速比、滇西地区地震频度、η值、∑(t)值、小震调制比及腾冲―泸水带缺震,它们曾多次对应滇西5级地震。除地震空区和下关4144井水位是中期异常外,其余都是1985年9月至1986年1月期间出现的短期异常。其他前兆观测项目只有水氡、水位和地磁偏角(D)三个项目出现异常。洱源水氡为单点突跳,配合其他异常分析定为Ⅲ类。丽江和腾冲的磁偏角短期异常明显,并且同步。永胜台磁偏角日极差(每天极大值与极小值之差)震前突变清楚。极震区内震前几天到几小时,出现地光、泉水流量减少甚至干涸,以及狗狂吠、鸡不进窝、鱼浮水面等宏观异常。前兆异常情况见表4和图13至图29。
